From Hong Kong to Thailand: Eva & Kelvin’s Destination Wedding at Paresa Resort Phuket

For some, it’s an intimate vow exchange in the backyard of a childhood home. For others, it’s a luxury destination celebration, where no detail is spared. Whatever it looks like, the beauty lies in choosing a path that feels most true for both of you.

Eva and Kelvin’s journey is one I’ll never forget. From their gorgeous pre-wedding photography session in Hong Kong to their joyful destination wedding at Paresa Resort in Phuket, Thailand, every moment was steeped in intention, connection, and meaning. Their story reminded me exactly why I do what I do, and why I adore crafting memory-filled art with all my heart.

The Prologue: Pre-Wedding Shoot in Hong Kong

Eva and Kelvin’s story began at 18, during a high school basketball match. Kelvin played for the opposing school team, while Eva watched from the stands—and it was love at first sight. Introduced shortly after by mutual friends, they started dating amidst the chaos of studying for their college entrance exams. And as fate would have it, they proved love can blossom and thrive—even during exam season (which they passed with flying colours)!

Thirteen years—and countless adventures—later, Kelvin finally proposed on the snow-dusted shores of Lake Louise in Canada. 

Both born and raised in Hong Kong, I flew over a few months before their big day for their pre-wedding shoot. They wanted a blend of editorial elegance and low-key personal moments, so we hopped on a tram from Shau Kei Wan and headed to Hong Kong Island, capturing candid moments along the journey. We then wandered through Central, soaking up the city’s vibrant mix of heritage and modern architecture, pausing for frames around Tai Kwun (the former Central Police Station) and along Hollywood Road.

We dropped by NOC Coffee Shop for a delicious breakfast and coffee, refueling for the final part of our day: a quick outfit change and an adorable shoot with their favourite third wheel, Bailey, amidst the lush, scenic surroundings of Fanling Golf Course in Sheung Shui.

It was an immense privilege to document Eva and Kelvin’s pre-wedding chapter in Hong Kong—and even more meaningful to do so in their hometown, where they grew up, crossed paths, and fell in love. Beyond capturing beautiful moments, it allowed us to connect in person and deepen our relationship properly. Experiencing their magnetic energy firsthand laid the foundation for an even more natural, relaxed, and intentional experience when it came time for me to be their destination wedding photographer in Phuket.

The Big Day: E & K’s Destination Wedding at Paresa Resort, Phuket

Having already spent time with Eva and Kelvin during their pre-wedding shoot in Hong Kong, I knew their wedding day would be every bit as sweet and heartfelt as they are. But when the day finally arrived, it still took my breath away.

Held at the stunning Paresa Resort in Phuket, their wedding felt like one long, deep exhale—effortless, light, and full of genuine joy. No performances. No pretence. No pressure. Just two people, choosing to spend the rest of their lives together, completely present and surrounded by the ones they love most.

Why? Because they didn’t follow the “rules”. They followed their hearts, honouring and sharing their love in a way that felt entirely and unapologetically them.

The Morning Calm: Getting Ready Before the Ceremony 

Eva and Kelvin began their day in quiet anticipation, with a traditional tea ceremony followed by a Western one, before getting ready side by side in the same villa at Paresa Resort. The morning was slow and gentle, filled with meaningful moments and breathless excitement.

The Vows: Wedding Ceremony on the Miracle Lawn, Paresa Resort 

Exquisitely planned and styled by the ever-talented Annie Wedding Co, Eva and Kelvin exchanged their forever vows on the mesmerising Miracle Lawn, framed by the endless horizon of the Andaman Sea.  With soft ocean breezes and a golden glow, their wedding ceremony felt like it was pulled straight out of a dream—intimate, moving, and truly unforgettable.

The Toasts: Wedding Reception on the Infinity Deck, Paresa Resort 

Flying high in a newlywed whirlwind of pure joy and emotion, Eva and Kelvin hosted their wedding reception on the breathtaking Infinity Deck. Perched on a cliff with panoramic views of the ocean and surrounding lush tropical forest, they celebrated into the night, with affectionate speeches and toasts between courses, endless dancing, and carefree laughter.

From their pre-wedding shoot in Hong Kong to their fairytale celebration in Phuket, Eva and Kelvin’s wedding journey was nothing short of magic. But rather than just hearing it from me, I thought it’d be even more special for you to hear directly from the couple, in their own words!

Below, Eva shares a few post-wedding reflections on their incredible journey: what it was like having me as their Phuket wedding photographer, why they chose a destination wedding, what they loved most, and the advice they’d pass on to others planning their own celebration overseas.

Why did you choose me to be your pre-wedding and wedding photographer?

Eva: “You were one of the photographers recommended by Annie. I instantly fell in love with your work—your photos and the emotions they captured resonated with me deeply. It felt like I’d finally found 'the one' I’d been searching for!”

What did you love most about working with me? Be honest!

Eva: “Your kindness and ease of communication stood out from the start. Before we even spoke on WhatsApp, I was nervous because neither Kelvin nor I are comfortable posing for photos. But your warmth and reassurance during our chats immediately put me at ease. Meeting you in person erased all my worries—you guided us effortlessly through the shoot, and your expertise made us feel confident we’d create something beautiful. We trusted you completely, and your ability to direct us while keeping the mood light and fun was truly remarkable! Thank you again for making our day unforgettable—we’re forever grateful!”

Why did you decide to get married in Phuket instead of Hong Kong?

Eva: “We dreamed of an outdoor, oceanfront wedding. Hong Kong’s weather and urban setting weren’t ideal, so we explored destinations like Phuket and Bali. Phuket won us over with its relaxed vibe, stunning scenery, and proximity to Hong Kong—shorter flights were important for our families, especially the elderly.”

Of all the wedding venues in Phuket, what set your heart on Paresa Resort?

Eva: “The Miracle Lawn at Paresa was everything we envisioned: a lush cliffside ceremony space with sweeping ocean views. It felt magical and perfectly aligned with our vision.”

Do you have any personal tips for other couples planning a destination wedding?

Eva: “Hire a great wedding planner! Coordinating vendors across countries can be overwhelming, and cultural/language barriers add complexity. A planner saves time, reduces stress, and ensures seamless communication.”
